Frank started his career as a saxophone player in HS. On bugle, he started playing in 1978 with a Fire Department New York State Champion D&B corps called the North Bellmore Flames on Baritone. Within 1 year, he was playing solo baritone and switched to trumpet the next year in HS, quickly becoming a solo soprano.
In 1982 Frank joined the Long Island Sunrisers as a 4th soprano, rising in 1985 to play lead soprano and in 1986 he was the given the chance to be a horn instructor and featured soloist in the Sunrisers "Fiddler On The Roof" production.
Frank remained with the Sunrisers as a soloist and instructor until after the 1989 season, being part of 4 DCA championships in his 7 years there.
Frank then became a member and instructor of the Hawthorne Caballeros and stayed with them thru the 1992 season. In 1993, became an instructor with the Connecticut Hurricanes, and then rejoined the Caballeros in 1994 as a soloist and instructor, winning his first "DCA Soloist" award.
Frank was also instrumental in helping the newly formed Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni Corps being one of only 2 members of the competition corps to be allowed to play with alumni at the same time, with Jim Costello's blessing.
He is a charter member of the Alumni Corps. In 1995, he helped the Caballeros go undefeated in winning their 8th DCA Championship with a record score (at the time) of 97.7. In 1997, Frank won his second "DCA Soloist" award.
Frank remained active with both the Alumni and the Field Corps through 2000. Since then he has been with the Alumni Corps as a featured soloist and horn istructor with Larry Kershner.
In 2004, he was also an instructor/featured soloist with The West Sayville Golden Eagles helping to bring them their first DCA Mini Corps title. Frank is currently their brass instructor.
